Plot Synopsis:
The Fires Of Cooking: Hua Xiao Chu is adapted from Xi He’s novel “Shi Wei Ji” (食味记) and is created by the original production team of 2017’s Chef Fang (Hua Jian Ti Hu Fang Da Chu 花间提壶方大厨).
Hua Xiao Chu is a light period-costume comedy that focuses on Chinese cuisine, love, and picturesque landscapes.
It is a story about the ancient legendary woman Hua Xiao Mai and her life. Through her hard work and kindness, she pursues love, experiences family and career changes. The drama is refreshing and shows many authentic and tasty dishes. The show conveys a positive attitude towards life, promotes values of integrity, and praises the kindness and warmth of humanity.
In addition to the love story between the beautiful cook and the wooden dart master, the scenes of family and friends cooking together and sharing the things they love show a strong and warm atmosphere of life, which complements the scenes of the mountains and rivers. The drama brings to live the phrase “This is the life I’m longing for”.
Watch Factor:
Wow, the food looks AMAZING! It’s interesting to see a drama that focuses on food as it’s central theme and because of that they really up the wow factor on all the dishes. Looking at it makes me want to try all the dishes – it looks more like a cooking variety show than drama because of it!
The drama looks very light and airy, I don’t think audiences will experience a lot of surprises. I won’t be watching this drama as I have quite a few others that I’m currently interested in. The CP looks quite normal to me – there’s nothing enticing about them. If I would watch this show, I’d definitely watch it for the food!
