Summary: The Chinese drama is adapted from Fei Hua’s novel “Sword Weapon”. It tells the fateful reunion of twin sisters Cheng Ruo Yu and Chou Yan Zhi who are in rival camps, and get involved in court with Emperor Qi Yan.
Plot Synopsis:
During the reign of Wenzong at the end of the Tang Dynasty, the eunuchs hold a dictatorship. Tang Wen Zong and Wang Ya, Li Xun, Zheng Zhu and others set up the “Nectar Plan” in an attempt to punish the eunuch Chou Shi Liang, but unfortunately fails.
Prime minister Wang Ya is convicted, but two granddaughters manage to escape. The younger sister is adopted by Shang Gong Yuxi of the Ziyi Bureau and changes her name to Cheng Ruo Yu. Her sister becomes determined to take revenge and changes her name to Yan Zhi to become Chou Shi Liang’s adopted daughter.
Seven years later, the new emperor Qi Yan ascends the throne and activates the Ziyi Bureau against Chou Shi Liang. As a result, the two sisters stand on opposing sides and meet once again. The younger sister who has lost her memory does not recognize her elder sister, nor does her elder sister recognize the younger sister who has grown up so much.
In order to pursue the edict of Wen Zong, the two sisters with drastically different personalities become opponents, and are forced into the rivalries of the court. When Yan Zhi realizes that the person she had been setting up was her own sister, she decides to sacrifice herself to save her sister.
In the end,Cheng Ruo Yu helps Qi Yan eradicate the enemy forces. After Qi Yan passes away, Guangwang Li Chen ascends to the throne, determined to do his best to reinvigorate the Tang Dynasty.
