Plot Synopsis:
In the late 1920s, the Yi family, a Shanghai department store giant, encounters a succession crisis. Yi Xing Hua decides to choose a family heir from the eldest daughter Zhong Ling, the second daughter Zhong Yu, and the youngest daughter Zhong Xiu because his only son, Yi Zhong Jie, gives up the family business to be a doctor.
Zhong Ling is a famous lady, elegant and quiet. The second daughter, Zhong Yu was raised by the grandfather of the Nanyang tycoon, and is shrewd and capable. Zhong Xiu studied in the United States, and is romantic and innocent.
The three daughters have different birth mothers, different temperaments, and different growth environments. In order to inherit the Xinghua Department Store, the three of them repeatedly make extraordinary moves to show their strengths.
Yi Xing Hua did not expect that San Feng’s return would cause an uproar, and he was unable to choose the final heir. During the “isolated island” period in Shanghai, Yi Xing Hua seizes the opportunity, Xinghua Department Store prospers unprecedentedly, and half of the operating income helps the disaster victims in Shanghai.
However, the good times do not last long. In 1941, the Japanese invaders occupy Shanghai. Yi Xing Hua is killed for supporting the anti-Japanese patriotic activities and refusing to win over the Japanese invaders.
In order to realize their father’s long-cherished wish of rejuvenating the country through industry, the children of the Yi family must finally unite and overcome the difficulties together.

Qin Lan 秦岚 as Yi Zhong Ling 易钟灵
The eldest daughter of the original wife Liu. After birth, she was brought back to Peiping by her grandmother. She is deeply influenced by her grandmother who was born into Manchu nobility. As a lady she learns poetry, studies Jingkun, becomes skilled at calligraphy and painting, and has outstanding talents. Dignified and generous on the surface, foreboding and courteous, tough and stubborn on the inside. She is willing to sacrifice himself, take responsibility for the overall situation, and marry Xi Wei An for the family.
Nie Yuan 聂远 as Xi Wei An 席维安
Zhong Ling’s husband. Born into a warlord family, the iron-blooded commander grows up under the new education of the Republic of China, but he is very traditional and falls in love with Zhong Ling at first sight. However, the fancy-pampered wife hits a wall one after another, and the war of resistance inevitably affects his beloved wife. The husband and wife endure the misunderstandings of the world, and also realize their wish to save the country.

Zhong Yu’s fiance. A promising diplomat, determined to rescue China through diplomacy, he is gentle and not a scumbag, has ideals and aspirations. Because of his arranged marriage with the Yi family, he accidentally becomes attached to Yi Zhong Yu. After marriage, the husband and wife fall for each other. Feng Wu establishes a refugee camp and the two are forced to work together.
